Making Your Own Herbal Remedies ... Herbs are the oldest form of medicine. Did you know that one of the first medicines, Aspirin was created in 1897 from a plant called meadowsweet? Your host Melanie is a passionate Master Herbalist who's worked with natural medicine for 25 years. Clavering is first found in the 11th century as Claefring, meaning ‘the place where the clover grows’, and what better way to both discover this beautiful Medieval village and its local flora, than to go for a walk? So we begin by following one of the lovely nature trails in this historic village and weather dependant, we will spend up to an hour outside walking and stopping often to discuss many of the common wild plants en route. During our walk we will also be foraging some of the plants we find to make a herbal first aid salve as well as a tasty cup of fresh medicinal herbal tea with Melanie's expert guidance. You'd be amazed at the world of medicine and nutrition all around us. We will then return to prepare our bounty whilst learning more about the special properties each herb offers us. You will leave having been immersed in Nature and seeing the 'weeds' around you in a new light.. and you'll be empowered to create your own natural, effective medicine to improve your health and wellbeing, as well as that of your family and friends. You also take home the salve that's made as a bonus!
