Co będziecie robić

ENJOY OSAKA SOUL FOODS AND AUTHENTIC LOCAL FAVORITES AS YOU DISCOVER UNIQUE AREAS OF OSAKA!

Osaka is called the "Kitchen of Japan" because of its abundance of delicious foods and restaurants and is one of the great food cities and cities of the world. On this tour, we will experience why.

We start in Dotonbori, Osaka's leading 'foodie' shopping district and finish in Shinsekai, Osaka's 'deep' retro entertainment district. Along the way, during this walking and eating tour, a hidden temple, winding alleyways, backstreets, and unique areas of Osaka will be seen. Some areas only locals know about and are hard to find without a guide. We will learn about Osaka and have the chance to eat some of Osaka's favorite foods and try some off-menu food and drink items too.

Osaka is full of life with its friendly people, busy shopping streets, bright lights, sights, and sounds. But it can be confusing the first time around. Don't waste your time trying to find everything on your own and getting lost. I can save you time and trouble so you can enjoy the sights as we stop at a mixture of local 'Izakaya' style Japanese pubs, restaurants, and food stalls. I will be happy to provide recommendations for all tastes and dietary needs. We make three eating stops during the walk.

We will experience Osaka to the fullest in its local, culinary, historical, amusing, and even taboo forms.
Other things to note
*Food and Drinks are not included in the price.
*Bring cash (not credit) for your purchases.
*We walk about 2.3 km through lively areas of town.
*We stop to eat and drink along the way.
*Some stops are sitting stops and some are not.

I came to Osaka in 1998, intending to stay a few months but enjoying Japan I never left. I soon found out why Osaka has an expression "eat until you drop" as there are shops and restaurants everywhere, and everyone loves their food. The choice of foods and the variety of places to eat is great, but it can be overwhelming. I can offer you suggestions, a unique perspective, and share local knowledge with you about Osaka's food and culture often missed or overlooked. There is more to Osaka than just great food. With a master's degree in Japanese Studies and by living in Japan for over 20 years, I have come to a sincere appreciation of Japanese culture and a better understanding of Japanese society. Let's discover and enjoy Osaka together.

Gdzie będziecie

We start in Dotonbori by Ebisu Bridge. We walk by the canal and through shopping streets. We visit a hidden calm temple in the middle of the city and continue down narrow winding restaurant and bar lined alleyways into Ura Namba and Kitchen Street. We continue through Electronics Town and finally Shinsekai a 'deep' area where Tsutenkaku Tower is located. We enjoy authentic local foods along the way. *Food and drinks are not included in the price.

This was a great tour! We learned about a variety of local dishes and visited places we never would have found on our own. The food was amazing. We also appreciated the stories behind the foods, and the brands, and some of the buildings and places on the route. We took this tour on our first day here and it helped to give us a lay of the land. I highly recommend this tour.

The food choices were PERFECT! Okonomiyaki is one of my top 2 fave dishes in Japan and the Okonomiyaki restaurant we went to was hands down the best.

Tim was great. He showed us so many interesting places and introduced me to foods/restaurants I would not have otherwise tried. He was also great with my kids.

Tim was very knowledgeable about the markets and what items meant. We enjoyed the flexibility of places to eat and walking through some of the local alleys. It’s great if you do not have much time in Osaka or you want to use the tips or finds to explore later on your own. Highly recommend! We learned so much

Tim taught us a lot about the history and culture of Osaka. We visited a variety of different shops and restaurants, most of which we certainly couldn’t have found on our own. It was a great way to experience the Dotonbori and Shinsekai areas, and we were full of delicious, reasonably priced, local food by the end of the tour!

We had an amazing night with Tim. The tour was everything we expected and more. Tim was so knowledgeable and we loved all the spots he took us to. The food was delicious. The locations were unique. We’ve lived in Osaka since August but wouldn’t have navigated our way through these areas and restaurants and we leaned so much. Thanks so much for such a memorable time!
